The Center for Information Therapy (IxCenter) is not-for-profit organization that aims to advance the practice and science of information therapy to improve health, consumer decision making and healthy behaviors.

The Center for Medical Consumers is a non-profit advocacy organization committed to broadening public awareness about the safety and quality problems that pervade the American health care system.

The Cochrane Collaboration is an international non-profit and independent organization, dedicated to making up-to-date, accurate information about the effects of healthcare readily available worldwide. It produces and disseminates systematic reviews of healthcare interventions and promotes the search for evidence in the form of clinical trials and other studies of interventions.

The Dartmouth Atlas of Health Care

The Dartmouth Atlas project is a funded research effort of the faculty of the Center for the Evaluative Clinical Sciences at Dartmouth Medical School. The Atlas project brings together researchers in diverse disciplines - including epidemiology, economics, and statistics - and focuses on the accurate description of how medical resources are distributed and used in the United States.

ECRI is a nonprofit health services research agency and a Collaborating Center of the World Health Organization (WHO). It is designated as an Evidence-based Practice Center (EPC) by the U.S. Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. ECRI's mission is to improve the safety, quality, and cost-effectiveness of healthcare. It is widely recognized as one of the world's leading independent organizations committed to advancing the quality of healthcare.

Health Dialog
Founded in 1995, Health Dialog Services Corporation provides a full spectrum of care management services and programs to clients. Working in collaboration with the Foundation for Informed Medical Decision Making, Health Dialog creates programs to directly address unwarranted variation in healthcare.

HealthNewsReview.org
A site developed to support excellence in health/medical reporting, to provide useful feedback to journalists, and to help educate consumers. A joint effort of the Foundation for Informed Medical Decision Making and Professor Gary Schwitzer, director of the Health Journalism Graduate Program in the University of Minnesota’s School of Journalism and Mass Communication.

A database posted by The Center for Science in the Public Interest of scientists who consult for or have other affiliations with chemical, gas, oil, food, drug, and other companies.

MedlinePlus will direct you to information to help answer health questions. MedlinePlus brings together authoritative information from NLM, the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and other government agencies and health-related organizations. Preformulated MEDLINE searches are included in MedlinePlus and give easy access to medical journal articles. MedlinePlus also has extensive information about drugs, an illustrated medical encyclopedia, interactive patient tutorials, and latest health news.

Public Citizen Health Research Group
HRG promotes research-based changes in health care as well as providing advice and oversight regarding drugs, healthcare delivery and medical devices.

The Oregon Evidence-based Practice Center (Oregon EPC) conducts systematic reviews of healthcare topics for federal and state agencies and private foundations. These reviews report the evidence from clinical research studies and the quality of that evidence for use by policymakers in decisions on guidelines and coverage issues.

The Ottawa Health Research Institute

This site offers an inventory of international Patient Decision Aids including many of the Shared Decision Making Programs in existence, evaluations of those programs, and the information about how to obtain them.

The Public Library of Science (PLoS) is a nonprofit organization of scientists and physicians committed to making the world's scientific and medical literature a public resource.

The Society for Medical Decision Making's mission is to improve health outcomes through the advancement of proactive systematic approaches to clinical decision making and policy-formation in health care by providing a scholarly forum that connects and educates researchers, providers, policy-makers, and the public.
